March 22nd, 2006 Still bad attitude but…

Someone above has granted me some help. ;) I was still in a bad attitude when I went to internship today. First appointment was a no show, big surprise, so I decided to go to the circuit class and have my ass kicked. Boy did she! She was great. I wrote down the whole thing and plan on using it many times. We ran lines, did wall sits, side stepped the length of the gym, both ways! YAHOOO, I’m going to be rolling out of bed in the morning. lol

So, then I had down time. Went to dinner with a friend and had a good time chatting. Really wanted to go home still, but had a 9 o’clock appt. It was another guy. Did anyone miss that I want to work with other Mom’s? K, this is actually really good because I’ve had to break out of my comfort zone. Not only were both my appt’s that showed up guys, but they were also both 59 years old. lol Both in shape though, so that was cool

Anyway, I’m taking this guy around. He is telling me more and more about why he wants to build strength. Showing me the moves he has to make for his sport sailing, so I’m frantically trying to jot stuff down. Now we didn’t start off the appt. knowing anything about the sailing. lol I did know that he had some bone density issues, but he said he was on medication for that. But, I still changed up his workout to help build some back up. He was happy to hear that was possible. So yada yada, he kept telling me he was happy about all the new stuff he was learning. Stroking my ego, yep, I do have one. :) I didn’t have the calculation or a calculator to figure out his target weight, too many numbers in my head. So I told him I would get it to him next week, no problem. We did it real fast and I went up to where he was working out, gave him the number which was about where he likes to be anyway and he starts chatting more.

Come to find out, his doc didn’t tell him anything about exercise to improve bone density. He’s merely put him on medication. Come to find out, this guy quit the medication 4-6 weeks ago because he found out one of the side-effects was depression. He’d been on it for a year and a half and was having issues with depression and he’d never before had problems. So we chatted about that a little and he told me how happy he was to hear of this alternative. He has some other things, but we are going to tackle them at a later date. I was not looking forward to this appointment and I really almost passed it on to someone else. I wanted to go home. But it’s amazing how things are put in our space to help us. I am on top of the world right now that I just helped someone feel like there is hope with out medication!!! ON TOP OF THE FREAKIN WORLD! This is why I’m in school. To help educate.
